ONLINE REENROLMENT

Our online registration system is open and schools will accept student reenrolment for Kindergarten - grade 12 and new student applications for ELP, Kindergarten, Play & Learn and grades 1-12. You can click on one of the two buttons above to get started.

Current MHPSD Families:
Before reenroling online, families must have an active PowerSchool Parent Portal Account. If necessary you can click the link below to reset your username or password to activate your PowerSchool Parent Portal account. PLEASE NOTE: If you have accessed your PowerSchool Parent Portal account in the last 30 days, no activation is required.

What is the PowerSchool Parent Portal?

The PowerSchool Parent Portal is a web based software system that we use to share student information with families. Online registration is a new part of the PowerSchool Parent Portal and you will need an active account in order to access and use this system. Active accounts are those where a user has logged in within the last 30 days.

EARLY CHILDHOOD PROGRAMS

We are now accepting applications for early childhood programs, please see the link to the attendance map below to determine your in-area school in preparation for online registration.

EARLY LEARNING PROGRAM (ELP)

We offer a variety of programs and settings to provide early learning support for children who are 3 - 5 years of age by December 31, 2022. Programs offer language enriched play based environments; a multi disciplinary team of professionals work together to provide programming designed to enhance language, social, physical, intellectual, creative, cultural and emotional development. Educators provide rich and varied opportunities that recognize children learn and develop at different rates and in different ways.

KINDERGARTEN

Children must be five years old by December 31, 2022, to register for 2022-2023 Kindergarten programming. Kindergarten is a part time program and will be offered in either the morning or afternoon.

PLAY & LEARN PROGRAM

Families can indicate that they would like to choose the Play & Learn Program during the online registration process for Kindergarten.

We believe in the importance of building a solid foundation in the early years. To enhance our half-day kindergarten program, we will offer an optional, part-time, Play & Learn program for kindergarten aged children. This will allow all children the option to receive a full day of programming to engage in holistic play-based activities through exploration and problem solving to develop literacy skills and physical well being in an inclusive environment.

CURRENT STUDENT REENROLMENT

All students that will attend an MHPSD school for the 2022-2023 school year will be required to reenroll. Our online system for reenrolment is open and families can LOG IN HERE. Once you log in, click on the SchoolEngage icon on the left menu and proceed to complete the re-enrolment forms that have been assigned to you for the 2021-2022 school year.

Please note: Google Classroom will remain central to our systems approach to providing access to learning from home.

Devices:
All students in grades 3 - 12 will require a device capable of Internet connectivity such as a Chromebook or laptop that can go back and forth between home and school. Loaners will be made available as necessary for students in grades 3 - 12. Students in grades k to 2 will have access to school-owned devices. This past school year MHPSD was able to procure and discount thousands of Chromebooks to support student learning during COVID-19. This is not something that we can offer in the future, however, local and online retailers such as Memory Lane and Best Buy will have devices available for purchase. More information on how to purchase required devices will be made available in the coming months.

TRANSPORTATION

Registration for school bus transporation will start in May, 2022. Medicine Hat Public School Division transports over 2,500 students including students with special needs. Rider registration is required. There will be an option to apply for school bus transportation during the new student registration or current student re-enrollment process. Only registered riders will be permitted to ride the school bus. At this time, there is no cost associated with accessing school bus transportation.

Families are asked to view our attendance area maps and bus route maps to learn about pick up and drop locations and times. If your child requires special transportation (ex: wheel chair accessibility) please contact Robert Olson, Transportation Coordinator 403.528.6572.

RIDER ELIGIBILITY

The Board may provide transportation service for resident students in the following categories:

  1. Students within the school division boundaries who reside over 2.4km from their designated school.
  2. Grades K-3 students residing beyond 1.2km from their designated school.

Some students who have been permitted to ride in the past, but who do not qualify under provincial regulations or MHPSD policy, may not be permitted to continue to ride in the 2022-2023 school year. These measures will allow us to provide appropriate contact tracing if someone testpositive for COVID-19 and has used school bus transportation.

School bus transportation is provided by our partners at Southland Transportation. If your child's bus is late or if you have questions about scheduling or routes please contact Southland Transportation at 403.526.4655.
