Yvonne Sissons has made Medicine Hat her home for the past ten years with her
husband and three young children. Originally from Saskatchewan, she made the move
to Alberta to pursue a career as a Registered Nurse and had the opportunity to work at
the Calgary Alberta Children’s Hospital, specializing in pediatric neurology, nephrology,
and renal dialysis. Additionally, Yvonne lived in Guelph, Ontario where she worked at a
community dialysis clinic and was head nurse at a long-term care facility.
From 2015 to 2021, Yvonne was actively involved in the governance of Au Chapeau
Preschool at École Connaught School, where her three children attended. Yvonne held
the positions of both board vice president and president, where she gained experience
in non-profit educational board leadership, employee relations, and financial
management.
Yvonne has a keen interest and dedication to the success of public schools in Medicine
Hat. She is an advocate of alternative programs, such as second language learning,
STEM programs, music and art, and sports programs, all of which enrich the
educational experience and allow students to discover their passions.
Yvonne is committed to remaining informed, approachable, open-minded, and
dedicated to the best interests of students, families, teachers and staff of MHPSD.
